Denmark expressed its concern about the systematic violations of human rights in several countries in the world, including Saudi Arabia, and called on it to respect human rights and international law.
In a speech during the discussions of the fourth item of the 51st session of the Human Rights Council on September 26, 2022, the representative of Denmark, Mr Erik Brøgger Rasmussen, stressed that his country reiterates its firm and complete rejection of the death penalty in the world. He called on states and their Saudi structures to stop the persecution of human rights activists.
Since the beginning of 2022, Saudi Arabia has escalated its human rights violations. In addition to the execution of 120 people since the beginning of the year, harsh and unprecedented sentences have been issued against activists and human rights defenders, some of which have reached 90 years.
